Quick answers when something isn't working.

The site won't load

Your browser is out of date. OpenDentist enforces current browser standards for security, so update to the latest version. We recommend Chrome.

My microphone isn't in the dropdown

Either the microphone needs a USB adapter, or the wrong default device is selected. Many surgery PCs have no USB-C port, so a USB-C to USB-A adapter is often all that's missing.

My microphone keeps cutting out

It isn't actually charged. The case can read as full when the transmitters are not, so charge the transmitters individually, and check there's no blue sticker covering the charging contacts.

The transcript has come back as nonsense

The microphone was off. Either dictate a quick summary of the appointment, or pull the audio off the microphone's own onboard recording if it has one.

The transcription quality is poor

Run a mic test and listen back to the recording. If the playback is quiet or muddy, raise the input level in your sound settings. Quiet input looks a lot like bad AI.

A field never populates

The template field has a default value. Go into the template editor and delete it, and the field will be far more receptive to what you actually say.

My notes are repetitive, or in the wrong order

Send us a screenshot and your templates, and we'll optimise them for free and push them back to your account.

The notes aren't coming out right

Work through these in order. They resolve the overwhelming majority of cases:

  1. 1Check whether you're on Light or Detailed notes, and try the other.
  2. 2Turn the transcript on for a few appointments (Settings → Privacy & storage). This establishes whether the AI missed something, or the microphone did.
  3. 3Run a mic test and listen back. Quiet input looks a lot like bad AI.
  4. 4Check your template fields for default values, and delete any that never update.
  5. 5Send your templates to us for free optimisation.

Tip: When you contact us, send a screenshot of the actual output. It's by far the fastest route to a fix, and nearly every tricky issue we've solved was diagnosed from a picture of the user's screen.
