Cookies Policy

Last updated: March 2026 (v1.2)

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site function correctly, remember your preferences, and understand how you use it. We also use similar technologies such as local storage.

2. Essential Cookies

These cookies are required for the Service to function. They cannot be disabled.

3. Functionality Cookies

These cookies enable additional features such as live chat support.

CookieProviderPurpose
crisp-client/*CrispPowers the live chat widget and remembers your conversation history.

4. Advertising Measurement Cookies

We advertise OpenDentist to dentists on Facebook and Instagram. To know which of those adverts actually lead to someone signing up — and therefore whether to keep paying for them — we measure advertising on our public marketing pages and during sign-up only.

None of this runs inside the OpenDentist application itself. Advertising measurement stops permanently once you finish or skip onboarding. No advertising or analytics script of any kind runs on the pages where clinical notes, patient details, or recordings are handled.

CookieProviderPurpose
od_vid, od_sidOpenDentist (first-party)A random identifier that lets us link an advert click to a later sign-up, so we can measure what our advertising costs per customer. Contains no personal data and is never shared with anyone.
_fbp, _fbcMeta (Facebook)Set by the Meta pixel on our marketing and sign-up pages so Meta can report which advert produced a sign-up. Not set anywhere inside the application.

We also send Meta a record of sign-ups and subscription payments directly from our servers (Meta's Conversions API). Where this includes your email address or phone number, it is irreversibly hashed before it leaves our systems — Meta receives a one-way fingerprint, never the address itself.

We do not use Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity. Product usage inside the application is measured only via server-side events linked to your authenticated account, described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Managing Cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Please note that disabling essential cookies will prevent you from logging in to the Service. The Crisp live-chat widget can be disabled via your browser's cookie controls or by contacting us.

6. Third-Party Cookies

The Crisp live-chat widget sets its own cookies when you use the Service. Stripe may also set cookies during checkout for fraud prevention. Meta sets advertising-measurement cookies on our public marketing and sign-up pages, as described in section 4. These are governed by their respective privacy policies. We do not control the cookies set by these third parties.

7. Changes

We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice within the Service.

8. Contact

If you have any questions about our use of cookies, please contact us at [email protected].
